2023 Bloom Fund Recipient

To help address the lack of public drinking water in their community, Filament Coffee was granted a Bloom fund to install a free water station. With no public water fountains in the Mebane area, Filament Coffee is providing the community—from people passing through on the Mountains-to-Sea Trail to unhoused neighbors—a place to easily access clean water.

In order to encourage community members to bring their own bottles and reduce plastic waste, the water station will have a tracker on it so people are able to directly see their impact. With cyclists, hikers, and other people consistently looking for a cup of water, this provides an easy to use, accessible to all solution.

The project also provides reusable water bottles to all Filament Coffee employees to help them stay hydrated while working and reduce plastic cup waste.

Bloom Fund

Counter Culture Coffee collects $0.01 from every pound of coffee sold to fund our Bloom program. Annually, $1 per pound of our spring coffee blend, Perennial, goes to further increase our contribution. Bloom provides grants to support sustainability initiatives at Counter Culture Coffee partner cafes. Rooted in the belief that everyone’s path toward sustainability looks a little different, this program supports projects of all shapes and sizes our partners identify as impactful.
