2022 Seeds Fund Recipient
The Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (YCFCU) was awarded a 2022 Seeds grant to implement occupational health and safety training for workers in Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia. YCFCU owns and manages processing centers with various types of equipment. From washed coffee processing to dry milling, around 60 people work with machinery during the coffee-harvesting season. At every level of the cooperative, employees need sufficient knowledge and training on how to prevent accidents they may face at work. The training ensures employees' safety and preparedness for any potential on-the-job hazards.
Seeds Program
Counter Culture Coffee collects $0.01 from every pound of coffee sold to fund our Seeds program. Annually, $1 per pound of our winter coffee blend, Iridescent, goes to further increase our contribution. Seeds offers financial grants to producers and producer organizations we work with to implement sustainability projects they identify as beneficial. To date, we’ve allocated over $280,000 to Seeds projects.
