The Coordinadora de Organizaciones de Desarrollo de Concepción Huista (CODECH) was founded in 2000 with the goal of coordinating the purchase and export of coffees from small producers in the communities surrounding the town of Concepción Huista. Like many cooperatives at that time, the group was only exporting full containers that were a blend of hundreds of growers' coffees. In 2009, our import partner on this coffee, Atlas Coffee Importers, worked with the group to implement rigorous quality control measures, separating out higher-quality regional and single-farm lots to sell at a premium. We started working with CODECH the next year and have continued to buy across the co-op’s quality tiers. We source higher-volume blends for our Year Round products and pay premiums for exceptional single-farm lots to offer on our single-origin menu.
